A man has been charged over an alleged drug driving offence after multiple vehicles and a licensed premises were crashed into at Nimbin on Thursday night.


About 6.50pm Thursday (30 May 2024), emergency services were called to Cullen Street, Nimbin, following reports of a crash.



At the scene, witnesses told police that a black BMW X5 collided with three parked vehicles before crashing into a licensed premises on Sibley Street.

The BMW was then allegedly driven a further distance on Cullen Street, where it came to a stop on a raised garden bed.


Police attended and spoke with the driver of the car, a 35-year-old man, who was uninjured; however, was arrested at the scene and taken to Lismore Base Hospital for mandatory testing.



The passenger, a 43-year-old woman, was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics and was subsequently airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital where she remains.


Following inquiries, the driver of the vehicle was issued a court attendance notice for drive vehicle under the influence of drugs.



He will appear before Lismore Local Court on Monday, 15 July 2024.


Inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
