Charlie’s Run 4 Kids, the 150km charity run which Nick Gooley has been an active advocate and participant for, finished on Sunday and was another great success.
The pace was hard, but it was well worth the effort - more than $100,000 was raised for the families in need.
The training paid off, Nick told the Lismore App, “Yeah, my body pulled up OK, but there were a few broken bodies by the end of it. It was another great year, watching part of the group hurting yet not giving up.”
The hugs at the finish line were joyous as the entrants came through. About 1500 people were there to watch competitors come over the line.
“It rained all morning,” Nick said, “and then the sun came out at 11am in time to run onto the oval. It was like we had a few angels watching over us.”
There were festivities and bands after the run, and the money was handed over as part of the celebration.
“Approximately $50,000 per family was donated to them (Ben and Liam and their families) on Sunday afternoon.”
