Following months of upheaval, a new general manager is on the way to Lismore City Council.
Last night, Councillors voted to offer a four year contract to their preferred candidate - and the offer will be formally made today.
A Council spokesperson said it had been an exhaustive recruitment process.
"The final interviews were conducted before June 10, but Councillors have taken their time in deciding in order to get right candidate for the job," the spokesperson said.
"An announcement of the successful candidate will be made once the offer has been officially accepted - and the recruitment process has been completed.
"This is expected to take about one week."
Acting general manager Michael Donnelly was appointed to the role in February this year - and the position was officially advertised in the last couple of months.
In February, this year, Council's former general manger Shelley Oldham had her four year contract terminated under a no-fault clause - with 18 months still to run in it.
The former GM had been criticised during her employment and Ms Oldham told ABC News that she had been the "target of an online hate campaign during her time in the job".
She was awarded a substantial payout of over $200,000 upon her departure.
