New bridge to be built at Georgica

Lismore City Council is to construct a bridge on Mountain Top Rd, Georgica, to replace a culvert damaged in the 2017 flood.

“Council plans to start repair of the 2017 flood damage on Mountain Top Road, Georgica, by removing the existing culvert and replacing it with a single span bridge,” the council said

“The old culvert suffered damage during the 2017 flood event and needs to be replaced.

“Design options have been investigated and it’s been decided that a single span bridge is the most cost effective and environmentally sound solution.”

Construction of the bridge is due to start in early August with works expected to take around three to four months, subject to the weather.

A temporary single lane side track will be installed to divert traffic while the new bridge is being built.
