Murwilliumbah woman charged over alleged fire brigade fraud

A woman has been charged following an investigation into an alleged fraud incident at Murwillumbah.


On Sunday 29 December 2024, police attached to Tweed/Byron Police District were notified of fraudulent activity in the accounts of a volunteer fire brigade.


Police will allege in court that more than $38,000 had allegedly been transferred from the brigade's account to a personal bank account.


Following extensive inquiries, police spoke with a 27-year-old woman at a home in Murwillumbah yesterday (Monday 25 February 2025).


She was issued a court attendance notice for embezzle as clerk or servant.


She will appear before Tweed Heads Local Court on Wednesday 23 April 2025.
