Imagine a dedicated creative space, where the community can come to heal, to craft, to commune, and to drink great coffee, and eat great cake.. imagine no more, because the new innovative space exists in the Wyrallah Road Shopping Centre, in the space that was Uncle Afro's, and it is brought to you by Cassie Can.
The inspiration for Muddle Puddle came from what Cassie says is her therapy and stress relief, art, and a desire to create a welcoming space for all.
"I used to run The Pickled Herd, which I was fortunate to sell before the floods, and had said I would never go into food again" Cassie laughs, "Somewhere inclusive for all, with a comfortable vibe was my intention for the space there as well, but then it became all about the food, and while I love food and serve food here, it's not the primary focus."
Muddle Puddle, which opened officially on October 31st with a special Halloween Party, serves a range of local drinks, locally sourced food creations and because Cassie loves cake, a fully stocked cake fridge.
Cassie says "in the year since selling the Picked Herd, I have been doing a lot of art, but there has been this drive to set something up, so when Abdo (uncle Afro's) decided to hand the space over, it was perfect."
Muddle Puddle will have art activities in the afternoon, and is open for people to come together and meet. The first on offer is a Felting Workshop on Tuesday afternoons, 3pm onwards, which will be free to join.
Cassie also says she is keen to offer a space for young people to learn valuable skills and training for potential life skills and employment, where they are able to practice in a professional setting, and promised to keep us informed of all the exciting things on the horizon for this new and welcoming, community creative space.
Muddle Puddle is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm at 62 Wyrallah Rd, in the Wyrallah Rd Shopping Complex and offers a daily blackboard menu.
