Enjoy the Sunday sunshine as the winds turn more southerly this morning and then southeasterly this afternoon bringing slightly cooler temperatures and cloudy, drizzly days for the first part of the working week.
Jordan Notara from the Bureau of Meteorology said Lismore and the Northern Rivers has moved away from the significant falls that were being forecast earlier in the week. 2mm per day is now more probable in the type of conditions we saw three weeks ago with Monday being the wettest.
There is a chance of between 5mm and 10mm depending on how the coastal trough behaves when it arrives. "Persistent not high accumulation" was how Jordan described the expected rainfall. Enough to wet the lawns and the garden but not enough for farmland.
The coastal trough will hang around for a few days before weakening on Thursday. Jordan said the showers should fall in the afternoon as this is typical of rainfall patterns this time of year.
Dry westerly winds will then make their way across the state bringing another warming trend our way towards the end of the week. Next weekend is expected to be mid-20s following more of a summer weather pattern.
