More rainfall on the way this afternoon and evening after a wet Friday

The Bureau of Meteorology were spot on with the weather forecast for Lismore for this weekend earlier in the week. If they are correct again we can expect more rain this afternoon/evening and a potential thunderstorm.

To 9am this morning Lismore received 27mm's at the airport while Nimbin had 20mm's in the rain gauge. As expected the highest falls were on or near the coast with Evans Head recording 56mm's and Alstonville 49mm's.

So far this morning, the rainfall has been light with only 1mm falling but that is the calm before the potential storm.

Gabrielle Woodhouse from the BOM says we will have persistent showers easing later tomorrow, "this is a tricky one as that trough deepens on the NSW coast and moves slowly south", Gabrielle said.

"Where that low is situated tomorrow will determine the time when conditions will clear".

How much rain can we expect?

Another 20 to 40mm's today with about 50 for the coastal towns then another 10-20mm's tomorrow.

The good news is that when the low does push south we should see some clear skies and light winds from Monday which will continue into next weekend. There is the chance of fog towards the end of next week and into next weekend.
