Bread rolls, pies and Vietnamese food will be back this week when Millers Bakery opens its doors again.
Six months after the flood, Millers Bakery owner Trent is happy to see work on the Woodlark Street bakery almost complete and hopes to be open this Wednesday or Thursday.
“We are nearly ready to open – it just depends on the electrical work being finished,” he said.
“It’s been a big job to get open again, but we have a good landlord who has fixed the floor and electricity to get the shop ready.
“It’s lucky I have a big family here to help clean and repair things - without them, maybe we never would have come back."
Trent said he and his family had taken on running the bakery only nine months before the February flood came - where he lost his bakery equipment to the water.
“We have a big family business and have shops in East Lismore and Central too,” he said.
The new Millers bakery will sell salad rolls, bacon and egg rolls and coffee – as well as pies, bread and a selection of Vietnamese favourites.
“We’ll have pork belly roll and vermicelli rice dishes and beef soup,” Trent said.
Millers Bakery will be open Monday to Friday, 5.30am to 4pm; Saturday 7am to 4pm and Sunday 7am to 2pm.
