Trinity Swim Club's Sophie Mayes has returned from the NSW State Age Swimming Championships confident that the early morning training sessions are starting to pay off.

Mayes had previously not qualified for a State Age final, but last week she swam in four individual finals and two relay finals.

Mayes contested nine individual events across the week long meet and set four personal best (PB's) times. Her schedule included a massive 18 races across 6 days.

"I was really happy with my 100m Fly swim at the State meet. I qualified 8th in the heats and set a new PB, secured a National time and placed 7th overall in the Final."

Sophie was also lucky enough to secure her fourth individual National Qualifying Time and will head to the Gold Coast in April with a busy schedule. This will include the 4x100m freestyle relay after she teamed up with Lilly Geddes, Beth Lockwood and Niquola White to finish 11th and qualify for the Nationals.

"I have now qualified for four events at Nationals, 100m Butterfly, 50m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle and the 200m Individual Medley as well as the 4x100m Freestyle Relay. It has been a big year!"

"The 2021 National Age Championships will be held on the Gold Coast in April next year, it is great that it will be so close to home."
