Marist Brothers look for a miracle against CudgenKevin Warid top scored for Marist Brothers

Marist Brothers will be looking for a miracle in their match against Cudgen after a tough Day 1 at Mortimer Oval.

The visitors won the toss and sent Marist Brothers into bat.

Marist Brothers took to the field without regular middle order batsman Pat Martin and Daniel Hamshaw.

And although the Brothers batting lineup got a number of starts, no single batsman was able to post a solid total.

Brad Cleaver and Kevin Warid top scored with 28 and Joe Allan was back amongst the runs with 21.

Unfortunately, they were bowled out for 142 in the 49th over, with Tim Spencer the chief destroyer with 4/39 off 11.2 overs.

This allowed Cudgen to face 21 overs in the afternoon, reaching 2/95 after captain Brendan Mitchell took both wickets, finishing the day with 2/30 off 7 overs.

Marist Brothers will be looking for a number of quick wickets to put pressure on Cudgen next Saturday, with the visitors needing just 48 runs for first innings points.
