About 1.20pm yesterday (Thursday, 24 July 2025), emergency services responded to reports of a stabbing in the Lismore CBD.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a 37-year-old man on Molesworth Street before he was taken to Lismore Base Hospital in a stable condition, suffering a single stab wound to the right shoulder.
A short time later, officers from Richmond Police District arrested a 28-year-old man on the same street without incident. He was taken to Lismore Police Station.
Officers also recovered a knife at the time of the arrest.
Police will allege that the stabbing occurred in Woodlark Street near the intersection of Keen Street.
It will be further alleged that the men are not known to one another, and the incident appears to be unprovoked.
The younger man was charged with reckless wounding and was refused bail to appear at a court today (Friday, 25 July 2025) via Audio Visual Link.
