A man has been charged following a fatal two-vehicle crash in the state’s north last year.
About 10.30am on Saturday, 4 October 2025, emergency services were called to Tyalgum Road, Tyalgum – about 26kms west of Murwillumbah – following reports of a crash.
Officers attached to Tweed / Byron Police District attended and found a car and a motorcycle had collided.
The rider – a 69-year-old man – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics but died at the scene.
The driver – an 87-year-old man – was not injured and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
A crime scene was established as specialist police attached to the Crash Investigation Unit commenced an investigation.
Following extensive inquiries, today (Saturday 10 January 2025), the 87-year-old man was issued a Court Attendance Notice charged with dangerous driving occasioning death-drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasioning death), drive across dividing lines to do U-turn - motor vehicle and his licence suspended.
The man is set to appear before Murwillumbah Local Court on Wednesday, 18 February 2025.
