A local man has been accused of shoplifting hundreds of dollars worth of food from a Lismore shopping centre and then assaulting a hospital security guard.
“Police will allege that at 4:15pm on Tuesday a 40-year-old Coffee Camp man has attended Lismore Shopping Square,” Senior Constable David Henderson said in a post on the Richmond PD Facebook page.
“He has been banned from attending the Square for various reasons until July 2020.
“He has attended Coles and placed over $300 worth of food into his backpack and left the store without paying.
“He then attended a wing of Lismore Base Hospital and assaulted a security guard.
“Police located the man in the A&E waiting room and placed him under arrest.”
The Coffee Camp man was refused bail after being charged with Assault, Larceny and Enter Inclosed Lands and is expected to appear at Lismore Local Court today.
