Lismore's Malachi Canning has qualified to represent Australia at the Global Games In France.



Malachi is a member of Lismore Little Athletics and earned his place in the Australian team after several amazing results at the National Athletics Championships.


The Championships were held in Brisbane from the 30 March to the 2 April and Malachi returned from the meet with three medals.


The event was the last chance to qualify for the Virtus Global Games, an event for Para-athletes, which will be held between the 4-10 June in Vichy, France.



Malachi returned with two Gold medals and a Bronze, throwing the qualifying distance in Javelin to cement his selection.


He returned with a Gold in Discus, a Personal Best and Bronze medal in Shot Put and another PB and Gold Medal in Javelin.


Too add to his busy schedule, Malachi also placed 4th in his 100m heat, 5th in the 400m finals and 4th in the Long Jump.


Canning will compete in Javelin, Discus and Shot Put events at the Games.


He will compete on the 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th of June and he is very excited about the opportunity.


It is Malachi's first time travelling outside of Australia, departing on 1 June and he gets the opportunity to wear the Australian uniform and represent his country.



Virtus is the global organisation that governs, advocates, organises and promotes elite sport for athletes with an intellectual impairment.
