Lyn Larsen already has an impressive array of recognition and awards that pay tribute to her stellar cricketing career.
Today, during the Boxing Day Test between Australia and Pakistan, Lyn will add arguably her greatest award to the collection, induction into Australia's Cricketing Hall of Fame.
Lyn is a Life Member of NSW Cricket, Australian Women's Cricket and an Honorary Life Member of the MCC (Lord's) in England. She has been inducted into the Hall of Fame for NSW Cricket, the NSW Hall of Champions and the Sport Australia Hall of Fame and in 2020 received an AM (Member of the Order of Australia).

Lyn had a chat with the Lismore App about her latest recognition.
"This one feels just the same in terms of shock, with the phone call, and a sort of disbelief. It took a little bit of time to just realise what exactly had been said. So, that reaction was the same."
"In terms of where this sits as a cricketer, of course, this is the pinnacle of what any Australian cricketer could ever dream about, being in the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame."
"Some of the other names in there, to me, are all legends. I think of the analogy that they are the penthouse and I just consider myself as being in the basement. So, the fact that I am even mentioned in the same conversation is still a bit surreal."
"You can't get any better recognition than this in Australian cricket. I'm just completely overwhelmed."
For those who are not aware, here is a summary of the cricketing career of Lismore-born and bred Lyn Larsen:

Lyn joins some of women's cricket's biggest names in the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame.
"These are not in any order but Belinda Clark was the first one. Raelee Thompson and Sharon Treadrea, who were the era before me and crossed over slightly. So, I managed to play with both Sharon and Riley, but to me, they were absolute legends and my idols."
"Karen Rolton, who's probably one of the best cricketers ever from the women's perspective. Lisa Sthalekar, Catherine Fitzpatrick, a number of those I've I've played with and consider them just outstanding legends of the game."
"There will be many more to come. I look at this current Australian team and think well, you could name any one of them and they will be future Hall of Famers but to be part of this initial group that's been inducted is really special, and is something I would never, ever have put myself in contention for."
As a 14-year-old playing cricket in the Lismore Women's District Cricket Association, did you dream of receiving awards like this?
"No, I didn't, I never looked too far ahead and I don't think I ever even set an expectation at all to see if I could play for Australia or get selected in this team. If you looked at it back at that 14-year-old so far in the distance, and not even anything that would be on the radar."
"At that time, my thoughts were enjoying my club cricket with my friends, the North's, and then playing in the Lismore Rep team was probably as far as any ambitions got and just enjoyment of the game at that level. But as each sort of year came along, something new came on the horizon. So you play and get selected in another team, which leads to another team, and ultimately, the Australian team."
"I just feel not necessarily worthy of these awards given the success that I've had, and I'm being nominated on the back of my team performances. I've had so many great, great players that I played with, and we had such outstanding results. But, you know, that was on the back of those players and I feel a little bit guilty to one extent receiving an award like this based on the captaincy record. That doesn't happen if you don't have a great team that you're leading and I was fortunate to have that."
Lyn's Australian Cricket Hall of Fame will be announced at the Boxing Day Test Match later today, however, Lyn cannot be in Melbourne today.
"I've done photos and I had a a videographer at my home on Wednesday, so there'll be some video footage that will be shown, I believe on the big screen and perhaps across the Boxing Day Test on television, in various forms. So, while I won't be live with Mike Hussey, who will be there, I will still have that presence so they can."

"I will have an in-person on-ground presentation at the Brisbane Test on January 24th and a formal function during tea on day one."
Lyn will then have her photos permanently displayed at the MCG museum putting her with Australia's cricketing elite.
