Lucky escape when tree falls on car during todays storm

There was a lucky escape for five occupants of a car in Leeville (13km south of Casino) during this afternoon's storm activity.

Just after 1.30pm today (Saturday 16 December 2023), emergency services were called to Summerland Way at Leeville after trees fell and crushed a vehicle.

The four occupants – 28, 22, 14, and two – weren’t injured and managed to extricate themselves from the car.

Officers from Richmond Police District, along ambulance paramedics, SES, RFS and other emergency services, attended and assisted the driver who was still trapped in the car.

The 40-year-old man sustained minor injuries.

Emergency services remain at the scene clearing the damaged vehicle and fallen trees. The Summerland Way will remain closed until the area is clear.

There is the chance of another thunderstorm, possibly severe, tomorrow afternoon (Sunday) after another sunny morning with a maximum of 33 degrees.
