Shipping containers have become a feature of our landscape since the flood disaster and now another container pop-up store is in place at the downtown hub at the Quad.
Optus, together with the Lismore City Council, has worked tirelessly to install a pop-up store to ensure residents remain connected and can get access to services when they need it most.
Casino resident and Brand Ambassador contracted by Optus, Troy Hawke, told the Lismore App the container can provide almost everything that the shop at the Lismore Square can do.
“After the first flood, we had the Optus truck here with the LED screen, giving away free phones and credit, to Optus customers who had been flood-affected,” Troy explained.
“This is phase two. The truck was out in the open, we had marquees for cover but with heavy rain, it’s not ideal so this is a lot better. This is a fully functioning set-up now. We can do pretty much everything here. We can fit screen protectors, sell phones, phone accessories - pretty much everything we can do in the store, we can do 90% of it here,” he added.
Assistant Store Manager Lillie, previously based at the Molesworth Street store, told the Lismore App that the pop-up is in place until the rebuild is complete at the Square where the Optus shop will re-open.
“The Optus shop at the Square will reopen in July and we’re based here until the Square opens, we’re not going anywhere,” she said.
The team explained that the pop-up, nestled between the other hub services adjacent to the Quad, is open from 9am to 4:30pm and will also be available this Sunday for the much-anticipated return of the Lismore Carboot Market.
Also on offer from the Optus team at this weekend’s market is an inflatable entertainment for the kids known as the Soccer Dart.
