Local derby will have plenty of spice

There will be plenty of local spice when the SCU Gold Rats host Lismore City in the penultimate round of Far North Coast Rugby Union on Saturday.

The two sides clashed in Round 1 of the season, with a comprehensive 45-0 victory to Lismore, a reality check for the Gold Rats after returning to the top grade after several seasons out due to COVID and playing in President's Cup.

After a heavy loss to Wollongbar recently, the Gold Rats fought back against Casino two weeks ago, only going down narrowly and will go into the match with plenty of passion against their cross town arch rivals.

Lismore have been battling away in recent weeks without a win, with injuries and unavailability seeing players back up from Colts and Reserve Grade to assist with First Grade.

They will look to young backrower Max Smith to continue his recent good form and inside centre Braeden Williams also continue his stellar season.

The SCU side have several important inclusions who will play in front of a strong crowd, with the club hosting their "Old Boys" Day and will look for their first win of the season.

The Gold Rats will host three matches on Saturday with the Lismore Women's side taking on Casuarina at 1:00pm, followed by Reserve Grade at 1:50pm between Lismore and the Mullumbimby Moonshiners before the First Grade clash at 3:15pm.
