Local derby to finish LJ Hooker League season

Marist Brothers and Goonellabah Workers Sports will clash in the local derby to finish the LJ Hooker League regular season on Saturday.

It will be the last game for Marist Brothers, who are currently in sixth place and cannot make the finals, after the top four was confirmed last week.

Brothers inform young gun Cooper Williams will be looking to finish off the season with more runs after 96 not out last week against Casino and 89 the week before against Pottsville.

Ryan Lee holds his spot in the lineup which had a morale boosting 7 wicket win over the Casino Cavaliers last week.

Dan Ter Braak returns for Goonellabah Workers Sports who are looking for a win leading into the Semi Finals next week.

The side went down to Tweed Banora Colts last week by 27 runs and had a rare tie against Cudgen the week prior.

Goonellabah are currently in third place and will be looking to take the points against their cross-town rivals and hope that Pottsville can upset Tweed Banora Colts to move into the important top two.

A top two position is a huge advantage if the weather becomes an issue during the finals as well as being able to host a semifinal.

The local derby will be played at Oakes Oval starting ay 1:00pm.
