Living Lab is inviting Lismore's Youth to Look Ahead tonightThe Look Ahead program talking to the youth of Lismore

Lismore’s Living Lab has been holding a series of events called Look Ahead, and tonight, it is the turn of the youth of Lismore to express their ideas and dreams for the future vision of our wonderful city.

Look Ahead: Ideas for a future Lismore exhibition is currently being shown online and at the Living Lab on Woodlark Street.

The exhibition portrays exciting potential opportunities for our city, “These exciting scenarios for a future Lismore were formulated by a panel of international and local design experts, brought together by Living Lab Northern Rivers, who responded to the outcomes of previous community meetings, visits to the city and intensive workshops."

“At the community meetings earlier in the year, clear opportunities for the future of Lismore emerged – a desire for safer and more diverse housing, greater connectivity, a vibrant CBD, active transport, increased food security, and a cleaner regenerated river and surrounding environment. Importantly, there was the need for confidence in a clearer future.”

Now the Living Lab wants to hear from the youth of Lismore. What their hopes and dreams are, and how they would like to see Lismore develop. The evening will be interactive with opportunities to voice their ideas.

Some of the topics for consideration include:

  • Public transport and bikeways
  • Places to hang out and be active
  • Creativity and opportunities to follow creative passions
  • Looking at newly vacant lands (from the buyback) and discussing their use.

The concepts and visions shared will go towards the larger vision currently being regarded. The information provided by the attendees, “Will be shared with local council and state government to help them with their plans for the future of Lismore.”

They form the basis to draw on to fuse the vision, assess the technical aspects and coordinate the possibilities.

Bring your innovative ideas, inspiration from other places you have seen and passion for the future of Lismore to discuss the possibilities. You are invited to bring a mate, and pizza will help keep the ideas flowing.
