Lismore Women through to the decider

The Lismore Women's 10's Rugby Team is into the FNC Rugby Union Grand Final after a spirited victory over Ballina on Saturday.

The John Lisetto coached side were ready to fire after a disappointing loss to Casuarina in the Major Semi Final two weeks ago.

They will now have a chance to redeem themselves after a 27-12 win in Ballina.

Lismore opened the scoring after just two minutes with a try before Ballina hit back with a converted try to lead 7-5.

Five minutes later Lismore's Lara de Jong crossed to wrestle the lead back going into halftime 10-7.

Just two minutes into the second half, Ballina scored under the posts for another lead change 12-10.

It was all Lismore from this point on with Sabrina Lisetto being rewarded with a try after several strong runs form the Green's forwards. The try was converted by Jada Williams.

Four minutes later, Kiara Jeffery crossed to push the Lismore lead out to 22-12.

Lisetto managed to cross from the back of a ruck on the stroke of fulltime to seal the victory 27-12 and progress to the Grand Final next Saturday.

Unfortunately the Lismore Colts could not make it two from two Preliminary Final victories after going down in a nailbiter to Casuarina 22-16.

Casuarina got out to an early 8-0 lead before Lismore hit back with a try to Jack Taylor after a scrum penalty and another to Austin Ruane on the halftime siren, to lead 10-8 at the break.

Immediately after the break, Taylor converted a penalty to push the score out to 13-8.

Just three minutes later, Casuarina scored under the posts, which they converted for another lead change at 15-13.

With ten minutes left in the match, Taylor slotted another penalty goal to retake the lead 16-15.

Casuarina then scored a converted try with just minutes left on the clock, but Lismore were unable to wrestle the lead back to go down 22-16.
