"All creatures, great and small" is the motto of the RSPCA, not Wires, but it certainly applied to a recent animal rescue.
"It isn't often that we have frogs come into care - and when they do they are often very badly injured and beyond recovery," a post on the Wires Facebook page said today.
However, the organisation went to great lengths after being contacted by a "distraught" member of the public who had accidentally stepped on "one of their resident and much loved Green Tree Frogs".

"Distressingly, the skin on the frog’s leg was completely 'degloved' around the knee joint," the post said. "It wasn’t a pretty sight.
"Without much experience with these types of injuries our Reptile/Amphibian coordinators consulted Lismore Vet Clinic - who felt that the skin may be able to be sutured if it was still fairly intact and if done quickly.

"The wonderful vets Dr Richard and Dr Nao at Lismore Vet Clinic were able to do the procedure which went well."
The frog is now in the care of WIRES.
