Far North Coast Sixers captain Joe Pasons, 11, from Caniaba was named man of the match yesterday in the team’s match against Armidale.
The FNC Sixers won their third game of the Lismore Under 12 Cricket Carnival, which is still in full swing today and tomorrow – January 9 and 10.
Joe Pasons is named man of the match.
Joe, a proud captain, whose favourite Australian cricket player is Steve Smith, thanked all the players on both teams and said it was great to win with a score of 2/116, against Armidale on 4/112.
“We normally play on synthetic turf, so it was great to play on the grass on Oakes Oval - it’s the best in Lismore.”
The FNC Sixers were one of three local teams playing in the Carnival which began on Tuesday – the other teams being Thunder and Renegades.
Marist Brothers Cricket Club president and Carnival coordinator Glen Lees said it was the 36th year of the Carnival in Lismore.
“it’s hosted by Lismore District Junior Cricket Association,” Glen said.
“This year, it’s run by Marist Brothers Cricket Club and its volunteers, who are taking on the job of feeding the players and helpers every lunchtime.”
Glen said the Carnival is growing and this year, there were 22 teams from around the State participating – with a total of 260 players.
Armidale player Charlie Foster was also awarded points for man of the match in the game against the FNC Sixers, following closely behind Joe Pasons.
“I scored 25 runs in the game against the FNC Sixers,” he said. “It was great to play on the turf oval, rather than a synthetic surface.”
Charlie said his favourite Australian cricket player is Marnus Labuschagne.
In other games on Wednesday, FNC Thunder player Brody Felton was named man of the match in round 4.
Lachie Barnes also displayed some lightning fast bowling for FNC Thunder, breaking a stump and took 2/14.

Thursday will see teams play in the semi finals with Parramatta v South Eastern Junior Cricket Association at QE2 Park in Casino and Manly v North Shore at Heaps Oval Lismore.
Glen said the matches on the first two days of the carnival were for 25 overs, while the semi finals were for 45 overs.
“We play most of the games in Lismore on the turf ovals, but we also play in Bexhill, South and East Lismore,” he said.
“You can find out all of the match results on the LBTCA page of the Mycricket app.”
