The Lismore U/12 Cricket Carnival has kicked off in style, with matches in Casino and Lismore.

Round 1 matches saw the Far North Coast Thunder start their campaign in style with a big 70-run win over North Shore Maroon.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, the Thunder compiled a very handy 4/160 and restricted North Shore to 9/90 off their 25 overs.

The FNC Sixers were not so lucky, going down by 8 wickets to the strong Hawkesbury side at Nesbitt Park.

Round 2 results on Monday afternoon saw the Thunder take down the Gold Coast by 38 runs and the Sixers go down to Coalfields by 4 wickets

Round 3 will be played on Tuesday morning, with Far North Coast Thunder taking on the powerful Hornsby Ku-ring-gai & Hills side at Mortimer Oval.

The FNC Sixers will take on the Ipswich Hornets in their morning game before teams are placed into the first round of finals.

Matches are being played at Mortimer, Roder, Blair, Barry Davidson and Oakes Oval, Nesbitt, Neilsen and Hepburn Park, as well as Oval 2 and 7 in Casino.

Teams from Sydney, Gold Coast, Tamworth, Newcastle, Brisbane, Bathurst and the Hunter Valley have travelled to the Northern Rivers for the annual U/12's Carnival that has produced several top cricketers across the years.

Parramatta have not returned this year to defend their title, with last year's runners-up, Manly, looking to go one better in 2026.

The tournament runs from 5th to 8th January.
