John Gibson the North Coast National President says "rain, hail or shine, the show will go ahead!" in regard to today's final day of the 2022 Lismore Show.
The show was officially opened this evening by Uncle Gilbert Laurie's Welcome to Country, and then Janelle Saffin, Lismore's State MP thanking all of those, who for the first time in the history of the North Coast National Show, delivered a free gate entry for the flood affected community of Lismore to come together, relax and have some fun, after what has been an incredibly difficult year for us all.
The Community Parade hosted a range of volunteer rescuers and responders, from the SES, RFS, NSW Fire and Rescue, VRA and Resilient Lismore to some of the Tinny Brigade, with the incredible voices of the Fijian responders who lifted the spirits of so many, 8 months ago. Lanterns saying Thank You and showing boats and scenes from the floods featured and the parade ended with fire twirlers lighting up the road.
The rain held off on Friday with a great crowd in attendance to see the Alpacas, Thearles Amazing Animal Nursery, Fine Arts Exhibition, the Bonsai, Home Wine, Spirits & Smallgoods exhibition, Vintage Machinery Display, Tursa Art Prize, Poultry Exhibition, Northern Rivers Artificial Breeders Stud Beef Cattle, Hurfords Championship Woodchop and Equine Challenge, plus Luke Vassella, Richmond Waste Aussie FMX, the Rides and Showbags, and the fireworks display amongst many other agricultural and community related things the Lismore and surrounding area's has to offer.
Today there is a plethora of fun to be had with all of the above as well as the Ring and Showjumping, the Sidney & Hacking Rodeo and Richmond Waste Aussie FMX Bikes from 6pm to 8:30pm, the George and Fuhrmann Fireworks at 8:30pm while the Jimmy Willing's Rodeo Ball will be on at the Bank of Queensland Community Stage from 8:15pm.
The Hurfords Champion Woodchop is happening now and the Championship Cat Show was judged this morning.
Bartercard Reptile World and The TNR Erin's Circus will have shows from now until 5pm in their respective locations and the Newcastle Permanent Lego Competition will have the finals heats from 10:30 to the 2022 Lismore Show Finals at 2:30pm for juniors 3-7yrs and seniors 8-14yrs at 3:30pm.
The general mood of the show from various stallholders and community groups was that the people of Lismore are well and truly ready to have some fun, and the show has been a great success.
