Yesterday's strong winds caused havoc in backyards, on the roads and on sporting fields throughout Lismore and surrounds.
The Bureau of Meteorology forecast of strong 25-35 km/h westerly winds hit with force late morning and stayed with us most of the day.
Today's forecast is similar, with another day of 20-30 km/h winds from the west once again.
The NSW SES Lismore City Unit is warning residents to:
The Lismore City Unit Facebook page said, "There is a strange phenomenon that occurs at this time every year. When the August winds begin to blow, some trampolines get delusions of grandeur and believe they can fly.
"This is a difficult and upsetting time for all involved and can cause significant damage or injuries.
"Tie down or turning your trampoline over, can help keep them in check - it is best for its safety and the safety of others, to restrain it.
"While we don't have any severe weather warnings, this wind certainly can cause disruption.
For emergency help in floods and storms, call the NSW SES on 132 500.
In life-threatening situations call triple zero (000).
Stay safe!
