Rory McLean, a 12-year-old pupil at Wyrallah Road Public School, Lismore, is captaining NSW in Cricket Australia's SSA 12 and Under Cricket Championships being held in Adelaide.
McLean, who plays for Lismore Workers Cricket Club like his older brother Sam, is a batsman/wicket keeper who captained the North Coast 12 and Under side. He was made captain at a camp for the side in Campbelltown, Sydney, last Wednesday.
Kai Dalli, another promising primary school cricketer from the Far North Coast, was also selected for the NSW side. Kai, who is from Ballina, is a batsman/bowler.

"it is going to be a big week for Rory," said his dad Paul. "But he's a pretty level-headed, caim kid."
"it's a pretty big honour to captain your State."
Rory, who will continue his education at St John's College, Woodburn, started his captaincy with a win against South Australia today.
He won the toss, elected to bat and made 13 opening the innings. NSW scored 8/148 off 40 overs.
NSW then bowled South Australia out for 67 in the 28th over, with Kai Dalli being involved in one of two run-outs.
NSW will play Northern Territory tomorrow.
