Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSWLHD) chief executive Wayne Jones said this afternoon that the woman “did all the right things” and was wearing a mask on the flight from Melbourne.

“This person was a resident from the 2480 postcode who was returning home,” Mr Jones said.

“She was picked up by family members and because she was wearing a mask and didn’t interact with anyone, she is considered low risk.

“It was a best case scenario and I am impressed by how mature she was.”

Mr Jones said there were approximately 30 people on the flight and staff had spread everyone out so they were not sitting too close together.

“All passengers were screened at Ballina airport on arrival as soon as the flight landed, as well as having their border passes checked,” he said.

“Everyone who was on that flight will be contacted and if have they have any symptoms, they will be encouraged to get tested.

“The woman is now at home with two family members who are also in isolation now.”
