"We are on the right track for a summer opening," says Lismore City Council as workers are cleaning the Lismore Memorial Baths with the pool drained of water.
Council said that draining the pool of water is a complex operation that if not done correctly could lead to the pool lifting out of position.
"Our team spent considerable effort in the planning phase to ensure this didn’t happen, including rolling out a number of contingency plans."
Council’s Water and Wastewater team successfully repaired the downstream sewer connection to allow draining to occur. As water levels fell, Bennett Constructions was able to clean the sides of the pool.
Now the pool is empty, hydraulic investigations have begun and mechanical equipment with long lead times for delivery have already been ordered.
Simplex Aquatic has been contracted to partner with Bennett Constructions to complete the works.
"There is still a long way to go before the pool can be re-opened, but we are on the right track for a summer opening."

Another question, the Lismore App receives regularly is about the Lismore Cinema.
While no official word has been received from Birch Carroll and Coyle (BCC), people have been spotted entering and leaving the premises showing signs of progress towards a possible reopening.
