Now with solar heating in all the pools, Lismore Memorial Baths is ready to re-open for the summer season on Monday, September 21.
Lismore City Council announced today that swimmers will notice a difference on their return to the water with Council completing repair work to the solar heating system during the winter recess.
The system was damaged in the 2017 flood. The cost of repair, and the installation of two additional electrical heat pumps, was covered by insurance with no additional outlay by Council or ratepayers.
All pools – the 50m, 25m and toddler – are now solar heated. The replacement of three existing heat pumps and the installation of additional pumps, means Lismore Memorial Baths will remain heated when the sun is not shining.
To protect the heating system from future floods, Council has also constructed a mezzanine level in the pool’s plant room to raise the heat storage tanks.
The operating hours of Lismore Memorial Baths are:
Monday to Friday: 6am – 6pm
Saturdays and Sundays 9am – 3pm
Daylight Savings:
From Monday, 5 October, the baths will remain open from 6am – 7pm weekdays
Term 4 Learn to Swim:
From Monday, 12 October – Saturdays and Sundays will extend from 9am – 5pm
As usual, in extreme heat of 35+ degrees, it will stay open until 8pm Mondays – Fridays and extend the weekends by one hour.
