Lismore look for improvement against Seahorses

Lismore will be looking for a big improvement when they take on the Ballina Seahorses in Round 2 of Far North Coast Rugby Union on Saturday.

With a large number of players unavailable for their first round clash with the Wollongbar Alstonville Pioneers, it was tough going for the Greens, going down 66-0.

Lismore will fancy their chances this week after Ballina also had a heavy loss to the newly formed Byron Shire Rebels 50-0 in Round 1.

Lismore will welcome back a number of key players, with backrower Connor Clarke, halfback Kyle Maluta, wingers Fraser Ruane and Joey Davis, centre Julian Thompson and fullback Adam Rodd forming a young but exciting side that will take on the big Ballina team.

The majority of the team have come through the successful Colts program and have a strong future ahead and will need to hold their nerve against an experienced Ballina team.

Lismore will travel to Ballina with three grades, with the Women's match having to be rescheduled for a later date.

The Colts will kick off at 12:30pm, the Reserves clash at 1:50pm and the main game is scheduled for 3:15pm.

In other fixtures, the Casino Bulls host the Byron Shire Rebels and Wollongbar Alstonville will travel to Casuarina in what will be the match of the round after both had big wins last week.
