Lismore Library is coming back to the Lismore CBD

Richmond Tweed Regional Library General Manager and Team Leader Lucy and Michael announced that the Lismore Library will be returning to the CBD as a more comprehensive pop-up.

While the Library will not be able to return to its former location for a while, due to issues such as water retention in the sandstone keeping the humidity too high for books to be brought back in and lead paint issues, this change offers residents of Lismore and surrounding towns an opportunity to return to some normality.

The new location will be 146-148 Molesworth Street, Lismore CBD.

Lucy told The Lismore App "The lease is ready to sign, so we are working through that and working as hard as we can to get things back up and running and open for our community very soon."

"It will be a miniature version of the full Lismore Library, but we will still have a variety of programs, PCs and books to borrow".

Lucy said there is no set date for the old premises to re-open because the works are extensive and confirmed the works will not be completed in 2022.

A motion was passed this month by the Lismore City Council's General Manager to sign the lease for Lismore Library to move into its temporary new location in the CBD.

"Because we lost so many books from the flood, and the entire Australian community has been so generous, those books are being catalogued, and council and library are working together to bring this back to the community because we miss you! " said Lucy.

"It will have plenty of parking, and disabled parking and disability access".
