Lismore Lantern Parade tickets on sale now

There are only 5-weeks to go until the iconic 2021 Lismore Lantern Parade lights up its new venue, the Lismore Showgrounds on Saturday, June 19.

Tickets are on sale now, you can buy them here. I say that because unlike previous Lantern Parade's which have been on the streets of the CBD attracting crowds of 25,000 or more, this year it has been forced to move to the showgrounds because of COVID health restrictions, that means limited numbers can attend.

Five thousand is that magical number and it is first in best dressed for tickets.

CEO and Creative Director Jyllie Jackson has kept pricing at a very reasonable level as the Not-For-Profit organisation puts on its first major event in two years. Adults are $15, Children 6-15 years $7 while Children 5 & under are free. So, a family of four will have a full days entertainment for $44, that amount is easily spent at McDonald's nowadays.

If you want the best seats in the house for the Fiery Finale, up in the Grandstands, that will cost $25 for Adults, $15 for Children 6-15 with Children under still free.

For those that don't like to purchase tickets online, you can pop into Music Bizarre on Magellan Street or the Curious Kookaburra on Keen Street (just up from The Professionals Real Estate) and buy them with cash in person.

So, what can you expect for your tickets?

This year's Lismore Lantern Parade is a Whole Festival with the theme of Innovation Inspiration Regeneration. Gates will open at 11am.

Jyllie explained this years theme as "celebrating the real-world innovation, creativity and resilience of our community and the positive effect we can have on our future and on our environment."

"Inspired by our theme we are really excited to announce a new initiative this year the REGEN EXPO 21 showcasing the work of our inspirational regional businesses and organisations. People who think outside the square and are all about innovation, regeneration and sustainable practices."

HIVE MIND - Alongside the Expo we will present a series of speakers, discussion panels and videos hosted by the delightful Scrapboy from ABC television’s DirtGirl and Costa Georgiadis from Gardening Australia.

The PARADE and FINALE will be held in the Showground Arena, culminating in the traditional bonfire and fireworks display (low impact).

REMEMBER - when you buy a Lantern Parade ticket you also have access to the WHOLE FESTIVAL â€“ Parade, Fiery Finale, REGEN Expo, Market delight, Heartbeats Festival Stage, KidsArtFest and street theatre workshops.

There will be parking available for a gold coin donation via the Dunoon Road entrance with disability parking at the Lismore Farmers Market gates off Alexandra Parade.

Jyllie is looking for volunteers to help make this years Lantern Parade a success.

"We need people to help prepare the lanterns in our workshop (Keen Street), help with the site setup on that day and the post Lantern Parade pulldown. There is still so much to do to get ready for June 19," Jyllie said.

"The Lantern Parade simply could not operate without the generous support of its wonderful team of volunteers. Experience is not necessary and whatever skills you have to offer, we would greatly appreciate your assistance and support."

If you can help you can ring Jyllie at the workshop on (02) 6622 6333 or email festival@lanternparade.com.
