Lismore heads to Wollongbar for big test

Lismore will head to Wollongbar for a big test of there 2025 prospects when they take on the Pioneers on Saturday.

The Lismore side will be out to improve on their last round 59-0 loss to Byron Shire, but they will not have it easy against the defending Premiers.

The Wollongbar Alstonville Pioneers are coming off a bye in the last round and have had a stop/start beginning to the season with wet weather, Easter and a bye.

The continuing wet conditions continue to hamper Lismore's preparation, with coaches having to adapt training each session depending on the ground availability.

Lismore have again named a young and talented side, with half Kyle Maluta to lead the side into battle with the experienced Wollongbar side.

The Pioneers have made several changes to their regular side, with Ben Damon to start at inside centre and Jarrod Wyllie to wear the 10 jersey.

The Colts will start the day at 12:30pm, Reservce Grade at 1:50pm and First Grade at 3:15pm, with the Women having the bye.

In other matches, Byron Shire will host Ballina in what will be the match of the round, and Lennox Head will travel to Casino to take on the Bulls.

In President's Cup, the SCU Gold Rats will host Kyogle and will be out for revenge after going down to the Cockies in the first round. This match has now been transferred to Kyogle, with a 4pm kick off.

The SCU Women's side will travel to Casino to open their account this season.
