The Lismore Women's Rugby Union side has fallen agonisingly close to taking out the 2025 Premiership in a dramatic decider on Saturday.
The Lismore side took on Ballina at Crozier Field and they got off to the perfect start.
Halfback Chloe Sivewright scored in the opening minute of the game to give Lismore the upper hand early, stunning the Seahorses.
The team rallied behind the posts to score moments later, under the posts at the opposite end, with Sammy Hughes converting to give Balina a 7-5 lead.
In a seesawing first half, Lismore managed to score twice in the ensuing minutes, with Sivewright crossing for her second and Matilda Maher barging over to see Lismore lead 15-7.
On the stroke of halftime, Ballina managed to cross in the corner to bring the score back to 15-12.
Ballina capitalised on repeated Lismore infringements after halftime to score, 5 minutes in and taking the lead 19-15.
A darting run from the back of a scrum from Sivewright saw her cross for her third, with Madison Coppola converting to again give Lismore the lead 22-19 with just minutes left on the clock.
With time running out, a bold downfield kick from the Seahorses and an excellent kick chase saw Emma Stockham score and Sammy Hughes convert as the referee blew fulltime and a 26-22 win to Ballina.
In other matches, Wollongbar Altonville took the Colts Grand Final 12-7 and in a fiery encounter, Mullumbimby took the President's Cup decider 17-7.
Second Grade was all one-way traffic with Casuarina taking down the Pioneers 25-7.
In First Grade, the previously undefeated Wollongbar side were out-enthused early by a solid Ballina outfit, who led 17-0 after just 20 minutes.
The Pioneers hit back with a try to Matt Scott in the 24th minute and a penalty try, 10 minutes into the second half to narrow the margin to 17-14.
The Seahorses then scored through winger Pateresio Vota and Sam Giltrap slotted a penalty goal moments later for Ballina to take a 25-14 lead with 10 minutes remaining.
Ballina's defence held firm until the last minute of the game when the Pioneers crossed for a consolation try, with the final score 25-19.
