The naming rights to the 2024 Lismore Cup has been decided at a function at the Lismore Turf Club on Friday night.

The 100 Club Gala Dinner saw a large number of sponsors and partners gather for the draw to see which lucky business would be the last one drawn and therefore hold the naming rights to the big race in September.

The Gala Dinner was well attended, with an impressive menu and the Cath Simes Band to entertain the Turf Club Partners.

As the names began to be drawn, several nervous business owners had fingers crossed that they would be in the final few.

Lismore's Viva Racing had the "honour" of being the first business drawn, and the LismoreApp also went early, but it came down to three local businesses for the Cup Day glory.

Pak Vending and Global Lubricants were drawn in third and second place respectively and will have races named after them on Cup Day, which left just one name left in the barrel.

Rodney Lees Cabinetmaking was announced as the naming rights sponsor of the 2024 Lismore Cup by Lismore Turf Club Secretary Manager Scott Jones.

Jones also announced that planning is underway by his staff and the Turf Club Board to run a "Lismore Racing Festival" in September.

Details are still being finalised but at this stage a Golf Day, Calcutta and a change of day has been flagged.

Jones has lobbied Racing NSW to have the Lismore Cup moved to a Friday from the traditional Thursday, due to the lack of support for a half day public holiday from Council.

The slated date for the Cup is now Friday 27 September, with a big 8 race program planned.

In addition to Cup Day, the club has several big days planned on the 2024 racing calendar.

Lismore Turf Club will host a race meeting on Saturday 23 March that coincides with Golden Slipper Day that will attract a solid crowd.

Other dates on the list include Ladies Day on Saturday 6 April, the Trinity Cup on Saturday 4 May, 100 Club Partners Day on Friday 26 July and Sunday racing on 20 October.
