Lismore cops want to reassure the public that have "a significant, robust and flexible operation in place to ensure the safety of the community" throughout New Year's Eve.
As part of Operation New Year's Eve 2019, Richmond Police District officers will be deployed as part of a highly-visible and mobile police operation to ensure the safety and security of the community ahead of the celebration.

"General duties officers will be assisted by specialist units including the Operations Support Group, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, Licensing Police, Operations Unit and the Dog Unit throughout the operation, Richmond Police District said on its Facebook page.
"During Operation New Year’s Eve 2019 police will be focusing on public safety, alcohol-related crime and anti-social behaviour.
Police will be out in force across the Command to ensure everyone has a memorable night for the right reasons. Local police request residents to celebrate responsibly, drink in moderation and look after one another – you don’t want to start 2020 with a criminal record."
