Lismore Rugby Club's City Under 18s Colts have beaten Casuarina Beach for the first time this season to win the Far North Coast Rugby Union Grand Final.

"We told the boys it was their moment, it was the time to do it for themselves and to honour Eddie the best way possible by playing good rugby and what a win. There is a lot of happiness," said Lismore rugby Club President Peter Everingham.

Lismore City Colts raced into a 17-0 lead, the first time they had gone ahead against Casuarina this season, having lost both matches.

"The boys played some good football and it was the start they saw us home as it became a pretty even game," said Everingham.

At half-time it was 17-5 but Casuarina upped their game and really took it to Lismore, who defended with all their might. It got up to 22-17 when Lismore went over for the final try to win 27-7 and earn the club it's first ever Grand final victory.

"The boys were absolutely outstanding and the entire team played outstandingly," said coach Josh Creighton.

Lismore City Under 18s Colts captain Ryan Wolton, who has played First Grade this season, was named Best and Fairest for the entire competition.

"He is quality," said Everingham, who added the boys were taken care of by Creighton, team manager Gus Macdougall, Stephen Hughes and Tyler Coveney over the past week.
