Lismore City Rugby Union Club like to keep it in the family.

Like many country sporting clubs, family is important and this is evident in every grade at Lismore City.

Club President Peter Everingham, whose son Jack is the First Grade half back, believes that family is what will bring the club success in the near future.

"We have father/son and father/daughter combinations all over the club at the moment, names like Whitby, Tulk, Lisetto, Taylor, it is great to see," he said.

The club's first-ever women's team is coached by club stalwart, John Lisetto, who is proud to be handing on his experience to daughter Sabrina and niece Adriana.

It seems to be working with Sabrina slotting in well at No. 9 and Adriana already developing a reputation as a big hitter.

Despite going down to Ballina 17-10 today, both Sabrina and Adriana crossed for tries and are loving the move from netball.

Joining the Lisettos in the women's team are sisters Lucy and Carly Taylor, the daughters of First Grade Coach Ray Taylor, who also coaches his son Jack in the U/16 squad.

Taylor also believes that the club is on the brink of future success.

"For the first time in a number of years we have large numbers at training, plenty of players to select from and the crowds are coming back to support the club," he said.

Consistency and developing new combinations is difficult with a limited season but Taylor hopes that the remaining 4 matches this season will put them in a great position moving forward.

The club has a big day planned for their next home game against Casino on Saturday, 22 August, with all four grades taking the field and a "friendly" Golden Oldies match to follow the First Grade fixture.
