From Keen Street, the Lincraft building looks the same as it has since it was cleaned out after the 2022 flood.
However, if you look closely, you can see the roof coming down of the back building at the rear car park.
A walk to Hampton Lane shows a completely different story, with a mass of twisted metal and tin sheeting on the ground, displaying the start of the demolition process.
Local development consultancy company Newton Denny Chapelle lodged a DA with Lismore City Council to demolish the old Lincraft building at 186 Keen Street, next door to Uncle Lims. The DA was approved on October 24 last year.
The building will be completely demolished in the coming months, leaving a vacant block of land.
The Lismore App spoke with the Managing Director of Crafty Properties Pty Ltd and Lincraft John Maguire, who said he still has confidence in Lismore.
While nothing is confirmed, Crafty Properties is looking to build a multi-story building on the site, with the ground floor being a car park.
According to council's Flood Information Certificate, the floor level is 10.05 metres, with the roof at 12.5 metres.
Mr Maguire said Crafty would be looking for expressions of interest from retailers or government to rent the building.
Some preliminary plans have been drawn up, but no DA has been submitted to Lismore City Council.
For now, the CBD will have a large vacant site in early 2025.
