Night time tennis is about to get easier at East Lismore Tennis Club, after the club received funding to upgrade the court lighting.
With a Federal Government grant of $20,000 and an additional $40,000 from the tennis club, the existing lights will be upgraded to LED.
Currently the lighting is patchy and it’s difficult for players to see.
Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan said the old flood lights caused issues for neighbours, who had lights shining into their yards and houses.
“High participation rates and a great network of juniors allows competitions to be played five days a week,” Mr Hogan said.
“It was great to join members of the East Lismore Tennis Club to announce funding for this project.
“Converting to LED court lighting will provide a better playing atmosphere and will save power bills for the club.”
“Participation numbers are expected to exceed 400 this year. This upgrade will ensure growth continues.”
