LCC partners with Northern Rivers Food to support local business

Lismore City Council in conjunction with Northern Rivers Food, are providing an opportunity for three local food businesses within the Lismore Local Government Area (LGA) to take part in a special support program to help local food and beverage businesses get back on their feet after the floods and participate in a renowned regional food trail.

The Harvest Food Trail provides visitors and locals with an opportunity to jump in their car and visit some of the Northern Rivers Regions’ best farms, distilleries, breweries and restaurants and enjoy the distinct provenance of our region.

Visitors on the Trail can plan their own itinerary over the weekend to experience the range of over 40 unique food and beverage experiences and connect with our amazing producers, growers, farmers and chefs, showcasing the best the region has to offer.

The event will be held over the weekend 6-7 May 2023.

This opportunity has received support from Council to allow three local businesses to align with some of the most high-profile food and beverage producers and providers in our region and open their doors to new customers and markets, as well as receive industry support offered by Northern Rivers Food.

Lismore City Mayor Steve Krieg said “The Northern Rivers and Lismore is renowned as a clean and green food bowl, and agriculture has long played an important part in our local economy. Lismore City Council is proud to join with Northern Rivers Foods in this initiative to promote our local agricultural and beverage producers as they recover from COVID-19 and the February 2022 natural disaster.”

Successful applicants to the program will receive a one-year membership of Northern Rivers Food and free participation in the 2023 Harvest Food Trail with support in promotion and planning from both Northern Rivers Food and Lismore City Council.

The program is open to an assessment process run in conjunction with Lismore City Council and Northern Rivers Food and interested businesses should contact Lismore City Councils Destination and Economy Team to receive an Information Kit, head to Lismore City Council website at www.lismore.nsw.gov.au or call 02 6625 0500.
