Lismore City Council has announced its Australia Day Awards nominees.

Council said that each nominee has generously dedicated their time and effort towards enhancing our community, making it an even more wonderful place to live, work and nurture families.

The nominees are:

• Citizen of the Year – Jack Somerville, Mieke Bell, Brian Johnson, Abbey Brown and Jean Renouf.
• Services in the Community (Individual) - Jack Somerville, Fr Alexander Mutua Munyao, Rod Gibson, Jean Renouf, Shaen Springall, Douglas Blythe and Abbey Brown.
• Services in the Community (Group) – Richmond Valley Day Club, Plan C, Inner Wheel of Lismore and U3A Northern Rivers Lismore Inc.
• Junior Sportsperson - Daisy Smith, Riley Flood and Caitlyn Halliday.
• Environment - Shaen Springall, Douglas Blythe and Jean Renouf.

The winners of the Senior Sportsperson and the Arts/Culture will also be announced.

The winners will be announced at the Goonellabah Sports & Aquatic Centre on Friday, 26 January, from 9am for the 2024 Australia Day Awards.
