A "late-night Maccas run" went horribly wrong for a Queensland man, according to police.

"Police will allege that at 12:55am on the 2nd August a 32-year-old Palm Beach man has driven a ute to the rear of Autobarn Lismore which is next to McDonalds," crime prevention officer senior constable David Henderson said in a post on the Richmond PD Facebook page.

"He has driven his ute through a chain attached to bollards. He then reversed, causing damage to the two bollards.

"Police spoke to the 32 year old on the 16th August.

"He told police that he was hungry and thought he was driving through the McDonalds drive-thru.

"He will be issued a Future Court Attendance Notice for Destroy Property and police will put an application to the court for the accused to pay for the damage to Autobarn."
