Entries are closing soon for the biennial Hurford Hardwood Portrait Prize. 

Artists have until August 27 to submit their entries for the prize which began seven years ago as the Northern Rivers Portrait Prize.

With prize money of $10,000, the aquisitive portrait prize was originally open to paintings and drawings but has now expanded to include portraits of any subject in any medium.

The exhibition of finalists will be on display from November 7, 2020 until January 31, 2021.

The 2020 Prize will be judged by artist Adbul Abdullah.

Last year’s judge Dr Michael Brand selected Nicole Kelly’s Jumaadi + Clouds + Rain as winner of the Hurford Hardwood Portrait Prize 2018 and Zom Osborne's Who will Protect Us received a highly commended.

The judge in 2020 is artist Abdul Abdullah and the winner will receive $10,000 (acquisitive prize).
