Lapses cost Lismore Rugby Club dearly against Lennox HeadJack Everingham, Andrew Sky and DylanTulk tried with all their might but lapses cost Lismore against high-flying Lennox Head.

Two passages of play summed up Lismore Rugby Club's final home match of the season against high-flying Lennox Head, said coach Ray Taylor.

"We were attacking with an overlap 10 metres from their line. It was three on one and the Lennox Head player took the gamble and intercepted the pass and raced 90 metres down the field to score under the posts for six points, when we should have had a conversion to get six points," he said.

"Then we got it back to 14-10 which was a fine effort from the forwards in particular. We stuffed the kick-off and they scored straightaway. It's just those little lapses that we have to remove from our game if we are to be more competitive.

"We have to stop shooting ourselves in the foot."

Taylor was impressed with Lennox Head, who remain fourth, and said his side suffered a little by having to play Ballina three days earlier and getting battered 70-12.

He was also impressed with the form of university student John Lowe, a cousin of Lismore's Sam Nilon.

"He is only 18 but a big lump of a lad and he played very well against a top side in the second row. He would be a big help to this team," said Taylor.

Despite the scoreline the tackling of Lismore's forwards was ferocious at times and Lowe, Gavin Tulk (Players' Player) and prop Greg Martin were the best on field.

"Our game has definitely improved over the season but we still need that ability to stay in the fight longer. Cut out those lapses," said Taylor.
