Kyogle Council Mayor Danielle Mulholland has paid tribute to past and present service men and women, honouring their sacrifices and courage on the eve of ANZAC Day.
Cr Mulholland urged everyone to take time tomorrow to stop and remember all the Australians and New Zealanders who have served and died in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.
“The ANZAC story has helped shape Australia’s identity, and on this day of remembrance, we should all take a moment to give thanks for the contribution and suffering of those who have served.
“We should also honour the qualities of those original ANZACS that helped forge the legend of the Australian spirit, which centres around resilience, courage under fire, larrikin humour and mateship.”
ANZAC Day services will be held throughout the Kyogle LGA, including at Kyogle, Woodenbong, Bonalbo, Old Bonalbo, Tabulam, and Mallanganee. ANZAC Day ceremonies in the Kyogle Local Government Area can be found on Council’s website by following this link.
“Council will join with the rest of the community tomorrow in honouring past and present service personnel, with Councillors attending and laying wreaths at all the official ceremonies,” Cr Mulholland said.
“Even if you can’t attend a ceremony tomorrow, I urge you to stop for a moment, remember and be grateful.
“Lest we forget.”
