A Zac Knight tip-in with 1.7 seconds to go in the Preliminary Final has sent the Lismore Storm into the Sunshine Conference Men's Basketball Grand Final.
In a tension filled match, the Ballina Breakers levelled the scores at 78-78 with 1.7 seconds to go, with Lismore calling a timeout.
The Storm advanced the ball and a pinpoint inbound lob pass from Kaleb Jeffery hit the mark, with Knight tipping the ball in, leaving just 0.5 seconds on the clock, with Ballina unable to score in the ensuing play.
The two teams started strongly, with scores tied up at quarter time 25-25.
The second quarter saw Jeffery forced to leave the court with a nasty cut on his chin, which forced the Storm into a few changes.
The Breakers shooting was on point throughout the second quarter, taking a 5-point lead into the halftime break 43-38.
The Storm have out firing in the third, outscoring the Breakers 26-18, to lead 64-61 going into the last quarter. The return of Kaleb Jeffery with a heavily bandaged face gave the home side a lift, when required.
A vocal crowd were behind both teams in the final stanza with both teams trading blows.
The lead changed several times in the fourth quarter, with Lismore taking a slender 4-point lead into the last 3 minutes, but Sam Mitchell scored twice for the Breakers to even it up in the dying seconds.
It was then that Knight and Jeffery combined to take the Storm into next Saturday night's Grand Final against the Valley Braves in Coffs Harbour at 6:30pm.
Jeffery and Kane Daley finished with 21 points each, Toby Barlow had 19 and Knight finished with 8, but 2 of the most important points of the season.
The Storm will be out for revenge over the Valley Braves, who have defeated the Storm narrowly in their 3 clashes this season, but the most important match is the decider.
Unfortunately for the Lismore Storm Women, their season has finished with a 59-45 loss to the Ballina Breakers in their Preliminary Final.
Injuries hit the Storm side, with Kiara Richardson top scoring with 16 and Alissa McWhirter finished with 10.
