Just over 12 months after the flooding event, KFC has reopened their doors today, serving their famous chicken.
Doors opened at 9.30am sharp, with Steven being the first person through the doors. He received an entire bucket of chicken and a suite of merchandise for being their first customer.
The Lismore App spoke with Dahna Knight from Restaurant Brands, the company that operates KFC Lismore, about their journey of reopening.
“We’ve been really pushing to get this store back open, it was originally meant to reopen late last year, but kept getting pushed back for a number of reasons,” she said.
“But, now it's April and we're here, and this team has been so ready to go!”
Staff from KFC Lismore were able to keep their jobs during the shutdown, moving between a number of stores across the region.
“A lot of our Lismore team got moved to Ballina, to work there for the period of this whole being closed down, just to support them and help them.”
“The aim was to have around 50 or 60 staff when we reopen, and I think we just hit around that mark, so it is quite a large team.”
“We've also actually had a lot of hiring for the period of reopening, and we've had a lot of people come in, and a lot of new staff to the team too.”
It’s a fresh new store, with their new layout and all the favourites are still on the menu. No doubt a popular addition back to Lismore, as our journey of reopening continues.
